Along with guitars, harps, violins and such in our shop, we’ve always had banjos. Lately there’s been a growing renaissance in open back banjos, beautiful new instruments and appreciation for the music going hand-in-hand. Many of these instruments are built in small shops, where you find an appreciation for 100-year-old instruments as well as inspired contemporary work. Rickard Banjos are definitely counted among those. They’re built by Bill Rickard and his crew in Aurora, Ontario. Rickard banjos include high grade hardware made by Rickard, everything but the tuners (Gotoh) and fretwire (Evo Gold). These instruments are solid, elegant, understated but with a big, sweet voice.
