Eastman began as a violin company. They extended their knowledge of building and finishes to other carved instruments, specifically archtop jazz guitars and mandolins, and in more recent years, flat top acoustic guitars.
Eastman offers three series of flat top guitars. Their Traditionally styled “E” models are patterned after older guitar models. They feature solid woods, lacquer finishes, and dovetail neck joints. Many of the soundboards featuring Adirondack spruce. These are well-made, traditional looking instruments with an excellent tone and open response. Cosmetic details often include herringbone purfling, slotted diamond fretboard inlays and open geared vintage style tuning machines.
Eastman’s “AC” models are more contemporary in appeal. Many of these models come in versions with cutaways and pickup systems.
Eastman’s most recent series are their PCH models (“Pacific Highway “). These come in either a natural finish or a classic sunburst finish (models with the “CLA” designation) and are great entry to intermediate level instruments at a very affordable price. They feature solid Sitka spruce tops and are available in three different body styles.
