Dana Bourgeois began building guitars over 40 years ago (I have fond memories of visiting his shop along the coast of Maine in 1984 or so). Since then, Bourgeois Guitars have become widely known and extremely well respected. The Bourgeois shop is fairly small, but nevertheless offers a stellar selection of guitars built with premium woods and meticulous craftsmanship. Bourgeois guitars have a strong and loyal following among contemporary players as well as traditionalists.
We also carry the Bourgeois Touchstone Series Guitars.
Drawing on Dana’s near half-century of lutherie experience, the Touchstone Series is designed to
deliver legendary Bourgeois tone and build quality to a wider range of players than ever before.
Touchstone Series guitars feature Old-Growth Alaskan Sitka Spruce tops and Adirondack Spruce
braces, selected and hand-voiced in Lewiston, Maine, by Dana Bourgeois and his team. The back
and sides of the Touchstone Vintage guitars are made with carefully selected Indian Rosewood
and assembled by the talented craftsmen at Eastman Music. Each specialized step is performed by
hand to bring out the beauty and tonal complexity of these guitars.
In addition to the Touchstone Series, Dana Bourgeois is collaborating with Eastman to build
mandolins. These instruments are hand crafted using only the finest materials and custom
hardware to deliver superior tonal performance and professional level playability. Designed
by the Bourgeois team and built by Eastman. Bourgeois mandolins currently in stock can be
found on the Eastman Mandolins page.
